Couples & Relational Counselling
Every relationship develops its own way of communicating, and at times the connection can begin to break down. Couples counselling provides a space to rebuild understanding, strengthen communication, and reconnect.
Rachel Simpson is trained through The Gottman Institute and brings a trauma-informed, relational approach to her work with couples. She supports partners navigating conflict, disconnection, communication challenges, or life transitions—offering sessions in-person at her Mount Pleasant office on Fraser Street and online across British Columbia.

Session Lengths
Couples sessions are offered in three lengths to suit different needs and stages of therapy. A 60-minute session is ideal for focused, ongoing work. A 90-minute session allows more time to explore deeper patterns without feeling rushed. A 120-minute session is suited to intensive work, conflict repair, or sessions where both partners need extended time to feel heard.
Rachel's Approach to Couples Work
Rachel doesn’t take sides. Her role is to create a space where both partners feel heard, respected, and safe enough to be honest.
She integrates Gottman Method principles with a trauma-informed and attachment-focused approach, helping you make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface. This isn’t just about the conflict itself, but what’s really driving it.
The goal isn’t just to reduce arguments, it’s to understand what’s underneath them, and to build a stronger and more secure connection.
